Vision® Amniotic Leak Detector

Encountering wetness is a common occurrence for pregnant women. So how would you know whether your wetness is amniotic fluid or urine, unless you visit your hospital or GP? The easiest and most discreet way is to use Vision® Amniotic Leak Detector (ALD).

This innovative new diagnostic device is an easy to use, self test which detects the leaking of amniotic fluid over a continuous period of time. Risk of amniotic fluid leak is higher than normal during the 48 hours after amniocentesis tests, or when encountering unidentified wetness, or among women with a history of Premature Membrane Rupture.

This device works by attaching a special panty liner to your underwear and if you experience wetness you can remove an indicator strip from the panty liner and this will reveal whether the wetness is either urine leakage or amniotic fluid leakage.

This process is done by placing the indicator strip in a special drying box and waiting for 30 minutes. If the indicator strip changes colour and remains blue/green after 30 minutes then the leakages is probably amniotic fluid and therefore you should go immediately to the hospital.

The strip may also turn blue or green if there is a serious infection detected so it is recommended that if the colour does change then seek medical advice as soon as possible.
