Parents ignorant of UK sunburn risk to children22/07/2010 OTC 07/10, OTC 07/10
Some 40% of the 1,500 people surveyed do not use suncream on their families during UK holidays, with some believing UK sun is less damaging than they experience abroad. Half of the parents are unprepared to the extent that they don't take water, hats or sunglasses for UK beach holidays. "While the UK isn't famous for its sunny, clear blue skies there is still a risk of sunburn even on cloudy days, as up to 80% of the sun's rays can penetrate through light clouds" says Nivea Sun brand manager Richard Duplock.
