FAQ's for the Home Faecal Blood TestHow many times should the sample collector stick be inserted into the stool sample? The stool specimen extraction follows after the sample collector stick has been inserted into the stool sample three times, in three different places. After each insertion, the stick must be removed from the stool sample container. As polyps don't bleed continually, it is recommended to take the test repeatedly throughout the year, in order to increase the possibility of "catching" a bleeding polyp. What does it mean if the PreventID® CC is positive?A positive result does not automatically indicate the presence of colon cancer. If the PreventID® CC is positive, it may be caused by something other than colon polyps or colon cancer, e.g. haemorrhoids, menstrual bleeding, gum bleeding or stomach ulcer. The immunological FOB test PreventID® CC should be repeated some days later. If the repeat test is positive, further testing (such as colonoscopy) is necessary. What is the shelf-life of the test? The expiry date of the test is 2 years since manufacturing date.
