The Coeliac Test is a simple, easy to use test that checks for the presence of particular antibodies in the blood. It can be carried out at home and results are available in about 10 minutes.
Coeliac disease is a serious, lifelong, gastrointestinal disorder that can cause a wide spectrum of clinical symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal distension, weight loss, malnutrition and skin disorders.
It is a genetic disease that causes a permanent intolerance to gluten, a complex mixture of storage proteins found in wheat, barley and rye. By following a gluten free diet, these symptoms can be avoided.
The Coeliac Test is a test for the detection IgA antibodies triggered by transglutaminase, associated with coeliac disease. The Coeliac test uses a small blood sample captured by the fingerpricker included in the test.
